My Celiac Story
Hi!
I'm Sarina. I was diagnosed when I was four, nine years ago. I love playing soccer, doing puzzles, and reading.
When I was younger, I always wished there would be a website where I could learn everything I wanted to about celiac disease and talk to other kids. Recently, I realized that this wasn't going to happen by itself, so I started thinking about how I could help celiac kids now. I had all this experience, and I didn't know how to use it! In the next few paragraphs, I will tell you about what I have done to make this world a better place for celiac. Remember, you can do all these things too!

The very first thing that I did was volunteer at a gluten-free expo. I volunteered to help tell people about Celiac Camp, one of the highlights of my year!

The most recent thing I have done for the celiac community is becoming a celiac advocate. To do this, I traveled to Washington D.C. for the Celiac Disease Foundations Celiac Advocacy Summit. Soon you will be able to become a state advocate on their website without flying anywhere! While I was there I also listened to the annual memorial lecture at the Children's National Hospital and learned a lot about medical education and how it can be a great way to increase diagnosis rates.

Another thing you can do is become a student ambassador! You can help spread awareness and raise money for celiac research! Find out more on the Celiac Disease Foundation's website!
